OSINBAJO: SOME CRITICISM AGAINST BUHARI DESTRUCTIVE

The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has expressed displeasure on the attitude of some Nigerians, who he said destructively criticize the government of President Muhammadu Buhari. He said that some Nigerians only want to run down the Buhari administration through their criticisms by mostly dwelling on the country's current economic situation despite the fact that the APC met on ground cor- ruption that took place for so many years.

Speaking yesterday when he met with leaders of the APC in Rivers in Port Harcourt, Osinbajo said that the Buhari administration was gradually addressing the country's challenges. He added: "This government of President Buhari is committed to changing the narrative in the Niger Delta.

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited is compelled to give the $1 billion for Ogoni clean-up, in five tranches of $200 million a year. We have given a take-off grant of $10 million.
"We will not be like those who made commitments for many years and could not fulfil their commitments. President Buhari is a man of his words and he will ensure that the Ogoni clean-up is pursued vigorously. He also described the APC as a party for today and the future.

The stakeholders' meeting was attended by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who is a former Rivers governor, but whose presence was not acknowledged by Wike on Monday at the Government House event.
Yesterday's meeting also had in attendance the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani; a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva; the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside; and Rivers APC Chairman, Chief Davies Ikanya. The Acting President said: "The APC is a party of today and the future. It is easy for people to say times are hard.

Yes, times are hard. One of the reasons for the hard times is the corruption that took place for so many years.
